A Marine with 2nd Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment checks the elevation on an M252 mortar during a section chief course aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., Aug. 5, 2015. The M252 Mortar is an 81 mm medium weight artillery piece which shoots projectiles such as the M374A2, a high explosive, the M375A2, a white phosphorus round, and the M301A3, an illumination round at a high angle of fire and is used for indirect fire.
