Two U.S. military personnel in desert camouflage uniforms are working together at a workbench inside a plywood-constructed workspace, performing maintenance or repair on a disassembled firearm. Both individuals are wearing protective safety eyewear and appear focused on the task. The setting appears to be a forward operating base or field maintenance facility.

Spc. Matthew Williamson and Sgt. Tanya Melson, both small arms/artillery repairers with the 542nd Maintenance Company (Direct Support) work on replacing the extractor on a M249 squad automatic weapon in their small workshop on Camp Taji on April 15. The two work on any type of small arms the Army deploys with, and occasionally even fix AK47s for the Iraqi army.
