Members of the Takeyama-Jiei Drum Team pound a high-tempo melody to the delight of hundreds of American and Japanese service members, contractors, dignitaries and their spouses during U.S. Army Japan’s Army Birthday Ball June 26, 2015, at Camp Zama, Japan. Composed of Japanese service members from the 31st Infantry Regiment, Japan Self-Defense Ground Force, the Takeyama Jiei Drum Team has played in four consecutive Army Birthday Balls as part of USARJ’s commitment to honor American traditions and uphold Japanese customs during formal ceremonies featuring service members from both countries.
