Brig. Gen. Robert J. Ulses (left), outgoing assistant chief of staff of operations, U.S. Army Pacific, and Brig. Gen. Bryan P. Fenton, incoming assistant chief of staff of operations, U.S. Army Pacific deliver their speeches during a Flying "V" ceremony held at historic Palm Circle, Fort Shafter, Hawaii, May 28. Ulses has 30 years on active duty with the U.S. Army. He has been with USARPAC since 2013, during which time he manned the assistant chief of staff of operations as the position's first general after USARPAC was elevated from a 3-star command to a 4-star command as part of the Asia-Pacific strategic rebalance. Fenton comes to USARPAC from the 25th Infantry Division, at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, where he was the deputy commanding general of operations. The "V" refers to the way the colors are posted during the ceremony, which is V-shaped. (U.S. Army photos by Staff Sgt. Chris McCullough, U.S. Army Pacific Public Affairs)
