PACIFIC OCEAN (June 23, 2015) Royal New Zealand Air Force Wing Cmdr. Jennifer Atkinson (top left), Pacific Partnership 2015 chief of staff, and Royal Australian Navy Lt. Lauren Milburn (top right), Women, Peace and Security (WPS) adviser, conduct a WPS brief for members of the U.S. Navy, Project Hope, University of Hawaii School of Nursing, and U.S. Agency for International Development on board the hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) during Pacific Partnership 2015. Atkinson and Milburn helped raised awareness for various mission goals in women’s integration and leadership for future community relations events. Mercy is currently underway to Papua New Guinea for its second mission stop. Pacific Partnership is in its 10th iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. While training for crisis conditions, Pacific Partnership missions to date have provided real world medical care to approximately 270,000 patients and veterinary services to more than 38,000 animals. Critical infrastructure development has been supported in host nations during more than 180 engineering projects. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Peter Reft/RELEASED)
