Seaman Apprentice Michelle Wilson uses a sound-powered telephone on the bridge of the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. Sound-powered telephones are powered by the energy generated by the user's voice and are used on all Navy ships as a means of communication. Ronald Reagan is currently deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. Operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States' commitment to security, which promotes stability and global prosperity.
