The award, sponsored by the Army Aviation Association of America, for significant contributions to the promotion of Army aviation throughout his career as determined by his seniors, subordinates and peers. Gallaway would later relinquish command of "Wolfpack" to Lt. Col. Andrew Reiter, during a change of command ceremony after the Order of St. Michael award ceremony.
