Mari Carmen Aponte, U.S. ambassador to El Salvador, and Gen. David Munguia Payes, El Salvador's defense minister, cut the ribbon officially opening the Estenzuelas school to the community also marking the closing of Beyond the Horizon 2015 activities. Beyond the Horizon is a U.S. Southern Command sponsored, U.S. Army South planned and led humanitarian and civic assistance exercise. The exercise is a major component of the U.S. military's regional engagement efforts and affords a unique opportunity to train U.S. service members alongside partner nation personnel, while providing needed services to communities throughout the region.
