U.S. Marines, Australian media and the Lord Mayor of Darwin, Katrina Fong Lim, prepare to board a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, June 10 before a familiarization flight at Royal Australian Air Force Base Darwin, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. The familiarization flight took off from RAAF Darwin, flew over the Port of Darwin and landed back at RAAF Darwin. MRF-D is an excellent opportunity to improve our knowledge of one another’s customs and traditions which ultimately strengthens U.S.-Australian military interoperability.
