DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORY, Australia — Lieutenant Colonel Eric Dougherty (left) and Sgt. Maj. Marcus Chestnut (right), present Lars Halvorsen, the pastor of C3 Church Darwin, a Letter of Appreciation during an opening ceremony May 15 at C3 Church Darwin, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. In honor of their hard work and expertise during the renovation, the Marines were invited to witness the grand opening of the church. MRF-D is the deployment of U.S. Marines to the Northern Territory, during which they will not only engage in bilateral training operations with the Australian Defence Force, but also aid in community projects to help strengthen relations with Australians throughout the region. Dougherty is the commanding officer of 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin. Chestnut (right), is the sergeant major of 1 st Battalion, 4th Marines, MRF-D.
