A civilian search team waits to be transported following the conclusion of a successful search and rescue mission in Eagle County, Colo., Aug. 12. The Colorado National Guard High Altitude Aviation Training Site was called to assist in the search for two missing hikers just below the summit of the Mount of the Holy Cross. The UH-60 Black Hawk crew from HAATS inserted two civilian search teams before the aviators noticed a signal mirror in the distance. Colorado National Guard rescue efforts are coordinated through the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center. The center ties in to the Federal Aviation Administration's alerting system and the U.S. Mission Control Center.
