Igor Marchosky, Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Distributed Tactical Communications System Technical Manager (with back to camera), briefs Army Brig. Gen. Mark Bowman, U.S. Central Command C4 director (3rd from right), on the system's capability at an Oct. 25, 2007, demonstration held at Dahlgren. Brig. Gen. Bowman observed how DTCS can be configured to interoperate with other communications systems in a cross-banding interface solution (the PRC-177 radio is pictured on the table). Since September 2008, a team of civilian engineers have been working with warfighters in Afghanistan to evaluate and field the Netted Iridium radios.
