Sgt. Christopher Maske (left), of Raleigh, N.C., and Staff Sgt. Jerad Luckhardt, of Bannister, Mich., both of Company D, 252nd Combined Arms Battalion, 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, provide security in Yaaskhdir, in the Radwaniyah District, south of Baghdad, during a joint Iraqi and U.S. patrol, Aug. 3. The Soldiers escorted a small team of U.S. civilians who talked with villagers to gather information on the area and assess the needs of people living in the rural village. The gathered information can help determine if the residents would benefit from humanitarian projects. This was the first time the Soldiers have visited the village since arriving earlier this year.
