Sgt. Christopher Maske, of Raleigh, N.C., talks with villagers in Yaaskhdir, in the Radwaniyah District, south of Baghdad, during a joint Iraqi an U.S. patrol Aug. 3. Maske is with Company D, 252nd Combined Arms Battalion, 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team. Patrol members talked with villagers, gathering information on the area and assess the needs of people living in the rural village. The information can help determine if the residents would benefit from humanitarian projects. This was the first time the Soldiers have visited the village since arriving earlier this year.
