Friends and family gathered for a memorial service held for Lance Cpl. Jacob Matthews who was a rifleman with 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, and Chester, Md., native, aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., April 24, 2015. Matthews died due to injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident in the city of Jacksonville, N.C., April 10, 2015. “This memorial today acknowledges his service to this unit, his Marine Corps and nation.
