Carl Vinson and its embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 are in the 7th Fleet area of responsibility returning to homeport after supporting Operations Inherent Resolve, maritime security operations, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, and theater security cooperation efforts in the5th Fleet area of responsibility.
