A 100-ton launcher closure door sits still after being propelled open from a missile launch facility and slamming into a 12-foot-high berm during a Simulated Electronic Launch-Minuteman test April 7 near Malmstrom Air Force Base, Mont. Coupled with Minuteman missile launches from Vandenberg AFB, Calif., the data gathered from these tests provides leaders throughout Air Force Global Strike Command with invaluable information on how these systems will work in a real-life scenario.
