150407-N-LX437-013 SOUTH CHINA SEA (April 7, 2015) Boatswain’s Mate Seaman Joseph Romano reads an event from the timeline of the Battle of Shiloh on board the Ticonderoga class guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh’s (CG 67) 1MC announcing system as part of a two-day commemoration of the anniversary of the battle during the Civil War. The Battle of Shiloh took place April 6 and 7, 1862 and was one of the bloodiest battles of American history, but is also considered to have been a key strategic victory for Union forces. Shiloh is on patrol in the 7th Fleet area of operation supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. (U.S. Navy Photo by Lt. Frederick Martin/Released)
