150404-N-JN652-117 JINHAE, Republic of Korea (April 4, 2015) Utilitiesman 3rd Class Latina Billings and Utilitiesman 2nd Class Jose Jimenez, assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Chinhae (CFAC), create balloon animals for Korean children as a fundraising event for the CFAC Navy Ball when the base opened to the public for the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival, April 4. The Jinhae Gunhangje, which translates as “Naval Port Festival”, was originally founded in 1963 to commemorate the Korean naval leader Adm. Yi. Over the last 53 years, it has evolved into a cultural celebration centered around the over 360,000 cherry trees that bloom each year on the Republic of Korea naval base and in the city of Jinhae.
