A solemn military cemetery featuring a large dark basalt lava cross with a crucifixion figure as its central monument. The grounds contain numerous low dark grave markers arranged in rows across a green lawn, surrounded by bare deciduous trees. The overall aesthetic is characteristic of German World War military cemeteries, likely maintained by the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge.

This is one of two cemeteries in the 50-square-mile swath of woods known as the Huertgen Forest marking the thousands of Nazi Soldiers who died in the Battle of Huertgen Forest from September - February 1944. The 4th Infantry Soldiers fought in battle from Nov. 6 - Dec. 3, 1944.
