150309-N-FR671-073 PACIFIC OCEAN (March 9, 2015) – Sailors assigned to amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) place a RIM-116 rolling airframe missile (RAM) into a RAM self-defense system during a missile upload. America is currently conducting maritime training operations off the coast of California. The ship is the first of its class and is optimized for Marine Corps aviation.
