Cpl. Calvin V. Montgomery breaks down a communication antennae to move the forward command element across the battlefield March 5 during Dragon Fire Exercise 15-2 at Pohakuloa Training Area, Kona, Hawaii. The forward command element moves before the main command element to establish communication and the ability to control the fight in order for the main element to be able to move. This ensures that the command element is never without communication and can always remain in the fight. Montgomery, an Eatonton, Georgia, native, is a radio operator, with Headquarters Battery, 12th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force.
