150307-N-RU971-374 WHITE BEACH, Okinawa (March 7, 2015) - The Whidbey-island class amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48) departs Navy pier in White Beach, Okinawa for its scheduled deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet Area of Operations. Ashland along with the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) and the amphibious transport dock landing ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) are members of the Bonhomme Richard Amphibious Ready Group (ARG). The ARG was in White Beach to embark the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) in preparation of its upcoming deployment in the U.S. 7th Fleet Area of Operations.
