150225-N-BD107-344 SAN DIEGO (Feb. 25, 2015) Lt. Niel Toohey, the air mini-boss aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), part of the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) which included nearly 4,500 Sailors and Marines, speaks with reporters upon returning to their homeport of San Diego after a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operations. During the deployment, the ARG transited nearly 35,000 nautical miles and conducted air strikes against the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
