U.S. Marines and Georgian soldiers scramble to take cover as a simulated improvised explosive device detonates during the close air support exercise aboard the Joint Multinational Readiness Center, Hohenfels, Germany, Feb. 10. The Joint Multinational Readiness Center is the only Army combat training center outside the continental U.S. It provides a realistic, complex operational environment, supported by observer controllers and opposing forces to Georgian soldiers. The exercise is part of the month-long Mission Rehearsal Exercise to test the 43rd Georgian Infantry Battalion’s abilities before deploying to Afghanistan.
