The U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Christopher R. Hill, and the Governor of Babil province, H.E. Salman Al-Zirgani, took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony near Scania, Iraq, June 2. The U.S. Army began renovations in April to re-open a segment of Highway 1 allowing Iraqi citizens to travel unimpeded from Baghdad to Basra, signifying continued progress in improving the lives of Iraq's citizens.
