(Feb. 7, 2015) Special Olympics athletes emerge from the Atlantic Ocean while volunteer rescue swimmers, many former and active military, enforce the safety perimeter during the 22nd Annual Special Olympics Virginia Beach Polar Plunge. The event raised $1.15 million for Special Olympics Virginia, a year-round program that provides sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
