A U.S. Navy aircraft handling officer, assigned to the USS Kauffman, signals to the pilot of a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, assigned to the 1st Battalion, 228th Aviation Regiment, that the chalks and ties have be removed and the aircraft can take off during deck landing qualifications off the coast of Honduras, Feb. 1, 2015. The 1-228th Avn. Reg. aircrew participated in deck landing qualifications on board the Kauffman to qualify pilots and crew chiefs on shipboard operations. Kauffman is on its final scheduled deployment to the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibility supporting multinational, counter-narcotics operation known as Operation Martillo.
