Lt. Col. Dave Hill, commander, and Command Sgt. Maj. Larry Seaman, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, present their brigade commander, Col. Ted Martin, with a "Phoenix" Bn. certificate of appreciation, framed with a battalion coin, during the 1st STB Welcome Home Ball held May 15 at the Bell County Expose Center in Belton, Texas. Hill showed his gratitude to Martin, who served as the guest speaker for the battalion during the spring formal held to commemorate the recent completion of the brigade's yearlong deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 2007-2009. Martin, who hails from Jacksonville Beach, Fla., commended the Soldiers of the Phoenix Bn. for the exemplary service providing military intelligence, signal support and many other services for the brigade during its mission to secure an area approximately the size of Washington, the Rashid District, in southern Baghdad.
