Almantas Leika, commanding general, Lithuanian Land Forces, troop the line to inspect the mass formation of Danish, Hungarian, U.S. and Lithuanian Soldiers Nov. 23, during an Armed Forces Day ceremony in Cathedral Square. For Lithuanians, the holiday honors the restoration of the country’s Armed Forces on Nov. 23, 1918, just weeks after the end of WWI, when the prime minister, Augustinas Voldemaras, signed Order No. 1 giving legal basis for formation of the armed forces of the newly-independent Lithuania.
