Microphones are set to detect if munitions hit their target at Poinsett Electronic Combat Range, Sumter, S.C., Sept. 4, 2014. When a bullet passes through the sound range, it breaks the sound barrier and the microphones record it, tallying an approximate number of hits and misses.
