A Canadian Armed Forces soldier, left, and U.S. Marine prepare to depart the amphibious transport dock ship USS Arlington (LPD 24) in a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter off the coast of South Carolina for a humanitarian scenario to evacuate non-combatants from an unstable region during Exercise Bold Alligator 2014. Bold Alligator is intended to improve Navy and Marine Corps amphibious core competencies. Working with coalition, NATO, allied and partner nations is a necessary investment in the current and future readiness of our forces. The exercise takes place Oct. 29-Nov. 10, 2014 afloat and ashore along the Eastern Seaboard. #BoldAlligator14 (U.S. Navy photo courtesy of Canadian Forces Cpl. Brian D. Watters/Released)
