Lt. Gen. Gary North., 9th Air Force and U.S. Air Forces Central commander, speaks during a Purple Heart ceremony for Senior Airman Luis Bermudez, 532nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, here March 29. Airman Bermudez was injured March 9 when a stray bullet impacted the left side of his chest as he made his way across the 532nd ESFS HMMWV yard to meet with his squad for a mission, only a few hours into his first day of duty on his deployment. A native of Chicago, he is deployed here from Buckley Air Force Base, Colo.
