Landing craft utility (LCU) 1634, assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 1, makes its approach to the well deck of amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5). Peleliu, embarked by Expeditionary Strike Group 7 Commander Rear Adm. Hugh Wetherald, is the lead ship in the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group and is conducting joint forces exercises in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
