Senior Airman Nikolas Kinder and Staff Sgt. Arthur Verchot, 61st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chiefs, prepare to perform preflight inspections on an F-35A Lightning II jet on the flightline at Luke Air Force Base, Ariz., Aug. 22, 2014. Preflight inspections are conducted late in the evening to early in the morning to ensure the jet is ready for flight during the day. There are three shifts to include; day-shift, swing-shift and mid-shift, who perform specific responsibilities which lead to overall mission success.
