Lance Cpl. Sam Tomlinson, a Charleston, South Carolina, native, throws an inert fragmentation grenade into a room as Marines wait to breach the building Aug. 20 at the Combat Town facility in the Central Training Area during military operations on urbanized terrain training. The Marines received approximately 20 practice grenades to simulate techniques associated with breaching a building. Tomlinson is a machine gunner with Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, currently assigned to 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, under the unit deployment program.
