Ronald L. Cox, a sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division at the time this photo was taken in July 1978, pulls in his chute just days after a near-fatal accident as a towed parachutist. Cox would have another near-fatal airborne accident later in his life, but that would not keep him from reenlisting as a 48-year-old, with deployments shortly afterward to Afghanistan and Iraq where he remains today working with a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Salah ad Din province.
