A delegation of senior African military officers visited Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Aug. 11, 2014. The commanding officer of Marine Combat Training West, Lt. Col. Phil N. Ash, and an instructor explained how the live-fire range is conducted. The delegation also observed Marines conducting house-clearing drills at a remote training range in the center of the sprawling southern California base. The visit is a part of U.S. Africa Command’s ongoing military-to-military(M2M) familiarization program. The 9-person delegation also visited the Marine-Air Ground Combat Center at 29 Palms, Space and Naval Warfare Command and the USS Midway Museum during their 6-day visit from Aug. 11-16, 2014.
