Sgt. Kevin Thurman, a resident of Clarksville, Tennessee and assigned to Company D, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, learns how to load the Polish UKM-2000 machine gun during familiarization training at Studnica Small Arms Range near Drawsko Pomorskie, Poland Aug. 5. U.S. paratroopers used their time at the Polish-hosted range becoming familiar with Polish small arms such as the M1996 Beryl rifle, the UKM-2000 machine gun and RPG-7B. The weapons training was part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, combined military-forces training designed to foster cohesive relationships between allies and demonstrate a commitment to NATO obligations.
