Spc. Hermilo Garcia, an Olmito, Texas, native serving as a cannon crew member for Battery A, 4th Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, tosses an empty shell casing prior to loading another round into a M119A2 105 millimeter howitzer emplaced July 22at Estonia’s Tapa training grounds. Garica’s battery was the first American artillery unit in Army history to conduct direct and indirect fire support training missions on Estonian soil in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, which includes combined training exercises with U.S., Polish, Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian military forces to foster interoperability and demonstrate a commitment to NATO obligations.
