Michigan Army National Guard Officers and Non-commissioned officers of the 177th Military Police Brigade engage insurgents defending a building with an M-240 B machine gun at Camp Grayling, Mich., Aug. 1, 2014. The officers and NCOs are participating in “Mungadai 14-01," a leadership and team-building exercise inspired by Genghis Khan’s elite warriors. Maj. Gen. David Grange, an infantry officer who was a deputy commander of Delta Force and later commanded the 75th Ranger Regiment, created the Mungadai event to test the teamwork, physical stamina and leadership abilities of senior officers and NCOs under tough conditions to build esprit de corps and unit cohesion.
