Operation Gateway III was a strategically planned operation to place combat outposts along Route 515, providing security and safer travel for U.S. military convoys and local Afghans. CLB-3 is the logistics combat element of Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force ? Afghanistan. SPMAGTF-A's mission is to conduct counterinsurgency operations, as well as train and mentor the Afghan national police.
