Army paratroopers from the 3rd Battalion (Airborne), 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska, parachute from an Air Force C-17 Globemaster III, jointly operated by the 3rd Wing's 517th Airlift Squadron and an Alaska Air National Guard unit, the 176th Airlift Squadron, on July 25, 2014, in support of Arctic Thunder Open House at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Arctic Thunder is a biennial event hosted by JBER. Featuring more than 40 Air Force, Army and civilian aerial acts and an expected crowd of more than 200,000 people, it is the largest two-day event in the state and one of the premier aerial demonstrations in the world.
