Lance Cpl. Kenneth L Dickerson, from Clive, Iowa, of Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines (3/3), and an Iraqi soldier, patrol through the city of Barwanah, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. 3/3 is deployed with Regimental Combat Team 7, I Marine Expeditionary Force (FWD), in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar province of Iraq (Multi-National Force-West) to develop the Iraqi Security Forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic government reforms, and continue the development of a market-based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
