Lance Cpl. Matthew Franzoni, a tow gunner with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South throws a flash grenade during less than lethal training aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., June 30, 2014. The course consisted of crowd dispersal techniques, riot control formations and weapons handling. The training was only a portion of the Marines’ preparation to join the Sailors aboard the future USS AMERICA on her transit around the South American continent. Through partner-nation port visits, key leader engagements and security cooperation activities, Sailors and Marines will demonstrate the flexibility, utility and unparalleled expeditionary capability the Navy-Marine Corps team provides our nation and partners.
