Gunnery Sgt. Arturo Belmonte, military police officer, 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, instructs less than lethal training for Marines with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force South aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., June 30, 2014. The course consisted of crowd dispersal techniques, riot control formations and weapons handling. The training was only a portion of the Marines’ preparation to join the Sailors aboard the future USS AMERICA on her transit around the South American continent. Through partner-nation port visits, key leader engagements and security cooperation activities, Sailors and Marines will demonstrate the flexibility, utility and unparalleled expeditionary capability the Navy-Marine Corps team provides our nation and partners.
