    Iraqi Security Forces assumes control of Joint Security Station Sheik Amir

    The Iraqi national flag is flown above Joint Security Station Sheik Amir, northwest of Baghdad, Dec. 31, 2008. The security agreement between coalition forces and the Iraqi government took effect Jan. 1, which gave the Iraqi security forces control of the JSS. All combat operations are now joint operations between U.S. Forces and their Iraqi army counterparts. Soldiers from both the Iraqi Army's 4th Battalion, 36th Brigade and Troop A "Ace High," 2nd Squadron 14th Cavalry Regiment "Strykehorse," 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team "Warrior," 25th Infantry Division, Multi-National Division – Baghdad participated in the historic event.
