Christmas cards, candy and personal items are collected at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3750 in Luling, La., Nov. 15, as part of a community service effort to send packages to the troops of 1st Battalion, 244th Aviation Regiment of Hammond, La., who are currently serving in Balad, Iraq, fighting the War on Terrorism. The 1-244th departed the U.S in April and is scheduled to return in early 2009.
