Mark Dawson, an applied anthropologist with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division Human Terrain Team arranges a collage of data gathered from Soldiers at Forward Operating Base Kalsu on Nov. 15. Using a form of grounded theory, Dawson organizes the information into themes, looking for patterns that emerge. The team's research will help Soldiers and U.S. Dept. of State organizations improve how they assist Iraqi governments build capacity in the future.
