M2 Browning .50-caliber machine gun parts are staged near two Assault Amphibious Vehicles for inspection April 10 at the Gwangyang Port, Republic of Korea, during exercise Freedom Banner 2014. The parts were thoroughly cleaned following their use in amphibious assault exercise Ssang Yong 14. Throughout the cleaning and maintenance repair cycles, the Technical Assistance and Advisory Team assigned to Blount Island Command assisted with loading operations by providing knowledge that allowed the equipment to pass various inspections. In total, the TAAT advised more than 10,000 Marines and sailors participating in the exercise. Freedom Banner 14 is a maritime prepositioning force ship offloading exercise that demonstrates offshore readiness of personnel and equipment to respond to a disaster relief or contingency scenario while strengthening ties between the ROK and U.S. forces.
